Iyabo Ojo, Nollywood actress, is a household name and a front-liner in the Yoruba movie circle even as she maintains a crossover appeal with the English counterpart.

Noted more for her girl-about-town roles, Ojo is also a film producer of class, having churned out award-wining flicks like Omo Gomina and Arinzo currently making waves, and Tembelu just waiting to be released. You are one actress who’s got a peculiar swagger to your personality, especially when acting the girl-about-town roles; where did all that come from?

Well I guess that might suggest that I kind of grew up in the streets. But not at all; I’m actually a very homely girl. My grandmother is Ibo and in Ibo tradition, after school, the next thing for the woman is the kitchen. So I’m a relatively homely girl. But where did I get all the swag and charisma from? First, I’d say from God. When I started acting, I started going out a lot, to events, to nightclubs; and when I’m out there, I try to study people a lot. I see how the town girls behave, how they talk; more especially those with unusual characters.

Have you at any time suffered stigmatisation by people based on certain roles you have played?

Folorunsho Alakija, Forbes magazine reports, started her career in the mid 1970s as a secretary at the now-defunct International Merchant Bank of Nigeria but in the 1980s she moved to the fashion industry. However, Alakija’s biggest break came in oil. In 1993 former Nigerian President Ibrahim Babangida awarded her company, Famfa Oil, an oil prospecting license which went on to become OML 127/ Famfa Oil owned a 60% stake in the block until 2000 when the Nigerian government acquired a 50% interest in the block without duly compensating the company. Famfa Oil challenged the acquisition in court, and this year, the Nigerian Supreme Court reinstated the 50% stake to Famfa Oil.

A man was arrested, charged and convicted after having sex with a goat, according to court proceedings in the United Kingdom.

Now, a British man, who admitted to having sex with a goat several months ago, was sentenced to six weeks in jail on Thursday. He was also banned from entering facilities that hold animals.

Robert Newman, 23, who sexually assaulted the goat in an animal barn in Devizes Wiltshire, initially denied the charge of having sex with a live animal, but then changed his plea and admitted the attack.

4 Persons Struck Dead By Thunder In Nasarawa

Tragedy struck at Mechanic Village in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, when four persons were killed on Friday as thunder struck

According to a witness, the incident occurred at Bukan-Sidi around 7:05 p.m. when the four men were about leaving their workshop following a downpour.

The witness said further that when the deceased noticed that it was about to rain, they decided to lock up their workshop and go home, but before they could leave the workshop thunder struck, killing them instantly.

Agagu Was Hypertensive, Son Says

First son of the late Dr Olusegun Agagu, a former governor of Ondo State, on Saturday said his father was hypertensive.

Agagu, who returned from United States on Thursday, reportedly slumped in Ikoyi, Lagos, where he was having a meeting with Ondo indigenes on Friday evening.

Mr Feyi Agagu said, “He just had a medical examination, which showed that he had a little cholesterol, and was hypertensive. There is diabetics in our family, but it’s nothing major; it was just something he had been dealing with for the past 10 to 15 years. So, there was no inkling that something was about to happen,” Agagu said.

Kidnapped Anglican Archbishop Regains Freedom

The Dean of the Anglican Church of Nigeria, Archbishop Ignatius Kattey has regained his freedom from kidnappers’ den.

Kattey, who was abducted along with his wife, Beatrice last week Friday along Aleto-Eleme in Eleme Local Government Area of River States but she was later dropped off, was freed on Saturday night.

Confirming the development, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Angela Agabe said the clergyman was rescued by the police and other security forces.

Man Stands Trial For Raping His Own Mother In Ekiti State

A 27 year old man, Akintunde Omoteinde, is currently standing trial for allegedly raping his own mother. According to a report by Punch, the sick incident happened on August 23 at their residence at the Ajebamidele area of Ado Ekiti in Ekiti State.

A resident of the area who spoke with a Punch reporter said:

“The news was shocking. Not many of us believed the story at first but the truth cannot be hidden for too long. The woman, a petty trader, was said to have been raped by her son. She was badly injured and was rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
"I can tell you that the family is presently living in shame. We hear that the family members are planning to move out of the house but we cannot confirm that.” 

Man Arrested For Branding His Name On His Girlfriend’s Private Parts (PHOTO)

Police say, 49-year-old Christopher Jackson from Arizona, allegedly used a branding tool and a butane torch to burn the initials “CJ” onto his girlfriend while she was unconscious.

Although the incident reportedly happened in May, the victim came forward just recently claiming she was too scared to come before.

According to court records, Jackson asked his girlfriend to go out dancing after a baseball game.

He asked them for he dissolution of his marriage to his wife, Grace, on allegations of $ex denial.

Mr Adebayo revealed that anytime he asks for $ex, they will begin to argue which would then lead to a brutal fight.

“My wife once slapped our landlord’s wife because she came to mediate between the two of us when she refused me $ex,” he said.
