Two Female NYSC Corps Members Set Ablaze In Rivers State

Two corps members serving in Community Secondary school Iddo in Asari-Toru LGA of Rivers State were yesterday night severely burnt beyond recognition by unknown persons who attacked them in their room.

Report given to us this morning by another serving corps member in the area said the two corps members who are both females were locked in after the attackers had poured fuel in their room and then set the room on fire.

One of the corper's name is Okey Winifred a batch C corps member while the other whose name could not be ascertained as at time of this report is a new batch B corps member that just left camp and reported at the PPA few days ago.

Both of them are currently in critical condition at the Intensive care unit (ICU) of Uniport Teaching Hospital.

We have the picture of the corp members but we think it’s too gory to share on this blog. However this is a picture of their room after the Incidence.

The attackers are still unknown, however the story going round among other corpers in the community is they are probably some of the students in their PPA.

Rivers state is becoming a more dangerous place for youth corpers as they are easily victims of violent attacks by locals and kidnapping gangs. 

We hope the concern authority will do something urgently and curb the various violence against the corps members.

TRAGIC: 200 Level Female Student Found Dead Naked In Her Hostel Room

A student of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, Miss Miracle Eze was found dead, naked in her hostel room at the Ishieke campus of the institution.

The deceased, who was in her second year in the Department of Mass Communication, hailed from Nsukka in Enugu State. She was said to have died mysteriously in her room, nude.Her hostel mates found her lifeless body in her room at Henriv Hostel the next day when one of them noticed that she had not come out of her room later in the day. On inquiry after knocking on her door and there was no response, she found out that it was locked from inside.

The situation, according to the source, attracted the attention of other students, and the police who later forced the door open and found her lifeless body on her bed.

One of the hostel mates, who did not want her name in print, said:
“Miracle cried when she met me in my room the same night she died and complained about one Mohammed, whom, she said, had been a threat to her life. She told me that Mohammed’s love advances had been a threat to her and she could no longer bear to see Mohammed’s face in her room.

“While I was with her, the same Mohammed came in and she left for her room. The following morning as I was preparing for school, I knocked on her door but nobody responded. I thought maybe, she was praying and I left for my exam.”
Other residents of the hostel told Daily Sun correspondent that they sensed something was wrong when they noticed that the girl’s door was still locked from inside until in the evening when they raised the alarm and knocked hard on the door but to no avail.

The students stated that it was when they called her phone and it rang but was not picked, that they peeped through the widow and saw her body on her bed, dead and naked.
The police at Ishieke later deposited her corpse in the mortuary while further investigation continues.

PHOTOS: Woman Smashes Her Head Through the Car Windscreen... And Survives (18+)

A Chinese woman miraculously survived a car crash which saw her head smash through the windscreen and become wedged in the hole.

The unnamed woman was a passenger in the car when it hit the back of a truck in southern China's Guanxi province. The force caused the woman, who wasn't wearing a seat belt at the time, to fly forward into the windscreen.

Her head broke the glass and she became wedged in the hole. When fire crews arrived on the scene, they had to remove the car's unconscious driver from the car before they could painstakingly begin freeing the woman.



Firefighters were then able to slowly enlarge the hole in the windscreen around her neck so that it was big enough for the injured woman's head to be safely freed. Bloodied and dazed, the woman was stretchered away by waiting paramedics and taken to a nearby hospital.



Miraculously, both the woman and her male companion are said to be making a full recovery in hospital.

62-Yr-Old Father Rapes 5 Daughters, Mother Says It's Family Tradition

A 62-year-old retired Rajasthan state government employee was arrested Wednesday after his five daughters, all married now, levelled several serious charges of sexual exploitation, molestation and rape against him.
In a joint 11-page complaint to the police, two of the five daughters have stated that their father Babu Lal Dhakar, former supervisor with the state agriculture department, raped them several times prior to their marriages.

The rapes took place as soon as the daughters entered Class eight, and continued till they lived in his house at Bayana village, some 150 km from the capital Jaipur.

Not just this, Dhakar used to first show pornographic material to his daughters and then rape them.

He even took them to various places in India, booking them into cheap hotels and then raping them, at the same time threatening to do the same to their younger siblings, if they resisted.

The daughters are believed to have tolerated these acts out of fear of infamy, but decided to teach their father a lesson once they realised that he was repeating the same with his granddaughters.

Mother Shakuntala Dhakar, a co-conspirator in the heinous crime, has also been arrested.

“The man has five daughters, all of whom are now married. The crime committed by him came to the fore when his daughters approached us on Tuesday and lodged a complaint alleging rape, molestation and various kinds of sexual exploitation.

One daughter alleged that she was sexually exploited between 1999 to 2003 while she was studying in college. When she got pregnant, her father forced her to abort the child.

The victim told her mother about the sexual exploitation, but she ignored her complaint saying that her elder sisters were also similarly raped by their father and it was a family tradition. The mother advised her not to mention it to others and simply forget it,”

Anshuman Bhumiya, Superintendent of Police, Bharatpur, told Gulf News over phone. “The victim got married in 2007 and later had two daughters.

Policeman Drives Against Traffic, knocks Down Woman, Baby

A police corporal, identified simply as Friday, has been accused of knocking down a teacher, Mrs. Taskirat Anjolaiya, and her baby, Ammarah.

It was learnt that as a result of the incident, the mother and daughter sustained pelvic fracture, brain injury and a broken jaw among others.

According to eyewitness, the policeman, who is attached to FESTAC Police Division, was driving against traffic on Apapa-Oshodi Expressway when he knocked down the victims.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the graduate of Mathematics Education was alighting from a commercial bus with her child and had not noticed the police patrol van coming from the wrong direction.

The victim’s husband, Sulaiman, said the policeman claimed he was running an errand for the Divisional Police Officer, Ibrahim Zango.

The policeman was said to have told them that he was instructed by the DPO to drop off a woman at the airport in Ikeja and he drove against traffic to avoid traffic congestion on the appropriate route so that she would not miss her flight.

He said, “The accident occurred on June 23, 2013. My wife was on her way to a religious progamme when a police driver drove recklessly on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway. He was driving against traffic and shouting at drivers on the right side of the road to clear out.

“He eventually knocked down my wife and baby while they were alighting from a bus.

“The policeman’s first concern at the scene of the accident was to immediately get a cab to convey the woman in his vehicle to her destination.”

PUNCH Metro learnt that the policeman rushed the victims to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba, and deposited N70,000 for their treatment.

At LUTH however, doctors at the emergency ward discovered that the mother of three had sustained a pelvic fracture, facial bruises, and brain injury while the baby, Ammarah, also suffered deep facial cuts and a broken jaw.

Sulaiman lamented that since the incident, over N500, 000 had been spent on treatment.

He said the policeman had abandoned the victims at the hospital since depositing the N70, 000.

He expressed disappointment over how the DPO handled the matter when they went to report the matter at the station.

“A few days after the accident, when I could no longer bear the pressure alone, I went to see the DPO and I told him what happened. Zango lambasted me before offering us additional N10, 000,” he said.

Sulaiman lamented that this was too little given the fact that he was unemployed and had spent all his savings.

He expressed disappointment that the police, who had been charged with the duty of protecting lives, were the ones inflicting hardship on the family.

Our correspondent, who visited the victim at Ward E3 on Thursday, observed that she was recuperating.

However, some nurses, who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said the head trauma she sustained was still affecting her.

One of them said, “She gets up from her bed and roams the hospital. Most of the time we have to strap her back to the bed to prevent her from going astray and I cannot say when she will be discharged,” she said.

Sulaiman said his wife was a teacher and he feared if she would recover completely.

Sulaiman said, “I have been unemployed for several months. My wife is a teacher at Ansar-Ud-Deen Primary School and she was the one supporting us until these  injuries due to the behaviour of this police corporal who has now abandoned us.

“The accident could have been avoided if the police man obeyed simple traffic regulation. Now, the action of the policeman has resulted in serious brain injury to my wife.”

The spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the incident.

She said disciplinary action was being taken against the DPO, while the police driver had been detained.

“It is really a pathetic case and no one is happy about it. You were the one that just informed us of the incident. We have started taking disciplinary action against the DPO and the corporal. We will hold a meeting on the issue on Friday,” she said.

Braide however said she could not say if financial support would be given to the family until after the meeting.

Robbers Invade Church, Kill One, Injure Two

Suspected armed robbers invaded Solid Mountain Prayer Ministry, Aco along Airport Road, Abuja, where they killed one member and injured two others.
According to a police source, Pastor Victor Ajibishe of Solid Mountain Prayer Ministry, reported at a police station in Iddo that while they were having a night vigil in their church, some armed men invaded the building.

The pastor said the armed robbers broke the window of the secretary’s office and entered the church.

The pastors told the police that the armed robbers who used a pistol to shoot sporadically, injured three people while two were treated and discharged, the last person could not make it as he was confirmed dead at the hospital as a result of the serious gun shot injuries he sustained.

According to the source, immediately the case was reported to the police station, FCT police control room was radioed and police officers moved to the scene and a manhunt was launched.

However, three of the suspected armed robbers were arrested,’’ the source further hinted.

FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent Hyelhira Altine Daniel, confirmed the incident, saying policemen went to the scene immediately and arrested the suspected armed robbers.

The FCT police spokesperson said the three suspects are from Gora village in Nassarawa State.

“Upon interrogation, two of the arrested suspects confessed to the crime. Items stolen from the church include the sum of N500,000 while items recovered from them include cutlass, long stick and charms,” she said.

She also stated that the complainant equally identified the suspects as those that robbed them, adding that investigation into the case is ongoing.

16-Yr-Old Robbery Specialist, Others Arrested During Police GunBattle With Robbers

One person was gunned down, while three others sustained injuries during gun battle between the police and suspected robbers at Ngborokpo village in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra
State, yesterday.
Also, 17 suspected robbers were arrested by the police where three AK 47 riffles, two pump action guns, four locally made pistols, some quantity of ammunition, a television set and a teddy bear which
they used in concealing guns were recovered.
Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Anambra State Police command, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka, told newsmen at the headquarters of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, Awkuzu, Oyi
Local Government Area, that the 17 suspects were arrested in various parts of the state for variuos offences, including bank robbery.

Among the suspects was a 16-year-old Ifeanyi Onwe said to be a specialist in bank robbery. He was said to be using beautiful girls to track people that withdrew large sums of money from the banks.
According to Chukwuemeka, some of the suspects were in the habit of blocking major roads in Nawfia, Awgbu, Ufuma, Abba, among other areas where they robbed people.
The PPRO alleged that some of the suspects were also involved in the killing of a 55-year-old man in Awgbu and another woman at
Nanka four days ago, as well as in the molesting of girls in parts of the state.
He said: “To the ordinary eye, the TV set and the teddy bear they were carrying were just what they were meant to be. But for this gang, what they do is to open the TV set and rip open the teddy’s
tommy, conceal pistols and ammunition in them and when they enter any vehicle, nobody will know they had guns until they begin operation.
“They invented this style to escape from the police and other security agencies, but our men were able to beat them to their game.”
Ifeanyi Onwe, the 16-year-old suspect confessed to the crime, admitting that he used to plant young girls in banks in Onitsha to give members of his gang information concerning withdrawals.
He said: “I was a student in a secondary school in Onitsha before I dropped out in JSS 1 because my parents could not fund my education. Thereafter, I met a friend who introduced me into this
deal. We have carried out many robbery operations in Onitsha and its environs.”
Another suspect simply identified as Ebuka said he was arrested by SARS operatives when he went to visit his friend.
He said: “I went to visit my friend without knowing that he was being wanted by the police for robbery. As I was still there, SARS operative broke into the house and arrested all of us. I don’t really know what I did.

A Man Has Been Arrested For Raping 9-Year-Old Girl To Death In Cross River State

Even before the news of the Nigeria Senate’s deletion of a clause in the constitution that protected underage girls from getting married off by their parents sinks in, a 9 year old girl has died during sex with a 20 year old man.

The 20 year old man, Chijioke Nwakor has been arrested and will be charged with raping a minor.

The suspect allegedly engaged the little girl in a marathon of love making which resulted in her death.

Chijioke told the officer heading the homicide unit of the state CID, Mr. Joseph Inuyashe that he was born in Aniocha Local Government Area, but grew up in Onistha, Anambra until recently when he relocated to Okuku-Yala Local Government in Cross River State where he is living with his parents.

He said since he came to Cross River State, he had abstained from women, regretting that his first attempt to make love to a girl of his desire has resulted in tragedy.

He said: “I used to see the girl everyday in Okuku-Yala, where I stay with my parents. I don’t know what pushed me last Monday to approach her.

The suspect insists that he did not rape her; that the two were making love.

“I discussed with her and she accepted so I took her to one of the abandoned buildings that has been overtaken by weeds, where I told her to remove her underwear and she complied.”

“I did not slap her or do anything to her.

“I told her to bend down because the place was too dirty. The uncompleted building is now used as a toilet, because most people living around there had no toilet.”

Chijioke said he then went for marathon love-making but Alice started crying but he thought she was pretending.

Few minutes later, Alice slumped and became unconscious and he decided to raise alarm calling for help.

Alice was rushed to hospital while Chijioke went round the community sourcing for money to foot the hospital bill.

“I was still looking for money when somebody called me that the girl was dead,” he said.

Cases similar to this are expected to rise as the law passed by the Nigerian Senate takes effect.

Man Throws Up, Dies After Involving In Oral Sex

Ogwashi-Uku, Asaba, Delta State -- A factory worker met his death after allegedly engaging in an act of oral sex with a commercial sex worker in the area.

It has been gathered that the man [name withheld] have 'gone down' on the commercial sex worker after having sex with her, and started throwing up after that. He was rushed to a nearby hospital only to die there.

Unconfirmed reports have it that the late factory worker had a preference for oral sex.

The landlord of the deceased, speaking on the condition of anonymity, alleged that the commercial sex worker may have poisoned the man as she fled the scene unnoticed immediately after the incident occurred.

It is worth mentioning that no fewer than six men have died in similar circumstance recently.

The police spokesman in the state, ASP Lucky Uyabeme, confirming the death said the body of the factory worker had been deposited at the General Hospital, Ogwashi-Uku, for autopsy. He added that the police is on the trail of the suspect.

Woman Roasts 7 Year-Old Step-Son’s Hand

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a woman, Mrs Aminot Otun, for roasting the right hand of her seven-year-old step-son, Awwal Otun, last Thursday.
Awwal’s hand was allegedly roasted for adding drops of liquid disinfectant to his bath water.
According to Ngozi Ekwerike-Okoro, President, Child to Child Network, a Non Governmental Organisation, NGO, a distressed call from one of Otun’s neighbours at 59, Suenu Street, Surulere, Lagos saved Awwal’s life.

Awwal was rushed to the Mother and Child Hospital at Gbaja where another drama ensued as the doctor on duty refused to treat or admit the boy despite pleas that the hospital was built purposely for mothers and children in the state.
According to his teachers, Awwal, who is in primary one, should not be allowed to go back to his step-mother because he is always coming to school with bruises as the neighbours who pleaded anonymity said that had been the normal punishment for the boy’s mistakes.
Awwal was later taken to a nearby private hospital for treatment and he is currently at Juvenile Welfare Centre of Alakara Police Station.

The story

According to Ngozi, “On July 11, 2013, Awwal was rushed to the Randle General Hospital, Mother and Child Centre, Gbaja, at about 6:30pm after a distress call from neighbours.
“He sustained serious injuries from fire burns inflicted on him by the step-mother who is now in police custody.
“At the hospital, we requested to see the welfare officer who we were told had closed for the day but after narrating our mission to one of the staff she referred us to the chief matron. The chief matron issued an emergency card to the boy and directed him to see the doctor.
“The doctor, however, refused to attend to the boy, because according to her, the hospital did not have enough space to accommodate the boy, as he would need admission for intensive care.
“We pleaded with the doctor to at least administer some first aid on the boy but she refused. We went back to the chief matron who told us after consulting with the doctor that Surulere General Hospital (Mother and Child Centre) does not have the facility to deal with such cases. They said our best chance would be to go to Ikeja General Hospital.
“We eventually left in disappointment and went to a private hospital in Mushin, close to the juvenile centre, where he got immediate attention and was treated free of charge.

Awwal recounts ordealThe boy said he added small quantity of Izal disinfectant to his bath water and his step mother got angry and put his hand on a burning stove since Sunday and he was not taken to hospital till Thursday when neighbours called the Lagos State Child Protection Network who mobilised the JWC Alakara to rescue him.

According to reports, in a fit of pique following his attitude and denial before police authorities, the ex-schoolmates and organizers of the concert, Olumide Adewale and Adetunji ' Najia Child' Adedokun-Fernandez, have launched a 'cold war' against him revealing his ugly past.



The begrudged men revealed that it is not the first time Wizkid has been involved in such scam. They said that Wizkid was allegedly expelled from school for stealing school property.

When reached, Wizkid and EME publicist, denied all allegations. They explained that they did not take any money from anyone, and they issue of scam must have been done by impersonators.

Wizkid is yet to respond to the allegations of him expelled and stealing in school.

Popular Lagos Reverend Arrested and Detained For Fraud

A popular Lagos-based pastor, known as Rev. Praise Bassey, has been arrested by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, for duping a female contractor. Reverend

 “Bassey told the contractor that the cost of the car was N3m. She was to pay the amount into his Zenith bank account. After the money was paid, Bassey became evasive.”

Bassey, who runs his church, Household of Destiny, from his three-bedroom apartment at Gani Dabiri Street, Ajao Estate, was said to have collected the money in 2010 under the guise of buying the contractor a 1X35 Hyundai car.

A police source told Punch that matters came to a head when Bassey, on collecting the money, could neither provide the car nor refund the money for two years.

He said, “The contractor got to know Bassey in 2010 when he visited her home in the company with a family friend. I learnt that Bassey informed the contractor that he lived in Korea and was into car import business.”

Several months later, the contractor called to ask Bassey the price of a 1X35 Huyundai jeep.

The petition, which was referred to the SCID through the Lagos State Commissioner, led to Bassey’s arrest.

Somehow, Rev. Bassey was able to secure bail the same day he was arrested in 2012.

He was said to have informed the police that the money was not given to him to buy a car, but to pray for the contractor’s success in her business. He was later given bail after he promised to refund the money.

“Part of his bail conditions was that Bassey would refund the money. At first, he paid N1.25m and promised to pay the remaining N1.75m. After securing his bail, Bassey absconded.”

He was rearrested by SCID operatives who were on his trail for many weeks.

From what olafaseki.blogspot.com gathered, Rev Bassey is now being processed for prosecution in court.

Actress Funke Akindele's 1 Year Marriage To Kehinde Oloyede Ends

Unfortunately this is not rumour, it's fact. A little over a year after tying the knot with Kehinde Oloyede, Funke Akindele's marriage has ended. Kehinde Oloyede shared the news of their split on his Facebook page (which he has since deleted). He wrote:

I reached out to Funke's publicist after reading the Facebook message, and they confirmed that the two have indeed gone their separate ways (for now). They've actually been having issues for a while and Funke had actually been planning to divorce him quietly, but Mr Oloyede decided to make it public

Funke also recently changed her BB name from Mrs Funke Akindele Oloyede to Everybody loves Jenifa. Funke and Kehinde got married on Saturday May 26th 2012.
