Federal Government to ASUU: “We Can’t Meet Your N92 Billion Demand”
It seems the strike still goes on.
Yesterday, Tuesday 13th August 2013, the Federal Government declared that it presently doesn’t have the resources to meet the N 92 Billion financial demand by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
According to Punch Newspaper, at the opening of the two-day meeting of Commissioners of Finance and Accountants-General of States, Nigeria’s Minister of Finance Ngozi Okonjo-Iwealasaid the N 92 Billion being demanded by the university lecturers was not within the reach of the Federal Government.
At the event themed Restructuring Nigeria’s Finances, she said;
The negotiation between the FG and the striking members of ASUU ends in impasse. Both parties have rescheduled the meeting to Monday 19th August 2013.

At the event themed Restructuring Nigeria’s Finances, she said;
“At present, ASUU wants the Federal Government to pay N92 billion in extra allowances, when the resources are not there, and when we are working to integrate past increases in pensions. We need to make choices in this country as we are getting to the stage where recurrent expenditures take the bulk of our resources and people get paid but can do no work.
Since I assumed office, the share of recurrent expenditure in our total budgets had increased astronomically. In fact, recurrent expenditure accounted for about 77.2 per cent of the federal budget and we are now working to re-balance this ratio.
The country is still suffering from the effect of the 2010 increase in salary. Do we want to get to a stage in this country that all the money we earn is used to pay salaries and allowances?
If the demands of the university lecturers are met and we continue to pay them salaries and allowances, we will not be able to provide infrastructure in the universities.”
The negotiation between the FG and the striking members of ASUU ends in impasse. Both parties have rescheduled the meeting to Monday 19th August 2013.

ASUP Preparing To Resume Strike
The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) announced the decision to suspend the nationwide strike on July 16, 2013. Unfortunately, it has just been a pause.
ASUP is gearing for another industrial action, which would commence after next week, and would be indefinite.
The union made the appropriate statement on August 13, 2013, Tuesday during the mass protest to ‘save public education’ in Lagos.
“The suspension of the strike will expire next week and up till now government has not done any single thing in the agreement,” said Chibuzo Asomugha, ASUP’s National President.
After 81 days of inactivity in polytechnics across Nigeria, the union decided to suspend the strike following the level of progress made in negotiations with the government.
ASUP said that it suspended the strike to allow the Senate Joint Committee on Education to liaise with relevant government agencies with a view to tackling the union’s demands within one month.
Among ASUP’s demands include the need for constitution of the Governing Councils of Federal Polytechnics; migration of the lower cadre to CONTISS 15 salary scale; and the “worrisome condition” of state-owned polytechnics in the country.
“Government should stop paying lip service to public education,” said Mr. Asomugha. “The closer you get to this people in government, the more you lose hope.”
Man Arraigned Over Attempt to Murder Sister Using a Hammer (Graphic Image)
Esther Erazele after the attack
Erazele, who was docked before Magistrate Margaret Dan-Oni, is facing a count charge of attempted murder preferred against him by the police.
It was said that the defendant had accused Esther, who resides in the same house with him, of bewitching him whenever he planned to get married.
It was said that he used to see her in his dream, whenever he is with a woman that he wanted to get married to and she used to prevent him from getting married, which prompted him to hit her with a hammer on the head and also twisted her neck.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Edet Okoi, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged crime on August 3, 2013, at about 8 pm, at 29, Ifekoya Street in Agege area of Lagos State.
He said that the defendant, while inside the room with his sister used hammer to hit her head severally.
Okoi said the defendant also twisted the victim’s neck, in order to strangle her.
However, when the charges were read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Dan-Oni granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two responsible sureties, who are gainfully employed, resident in Lagos State. One of the sureties must be a clergy man while one must reside in his property and show evidence of tax payment and address verified.
She adjourned the case to October 2, 2013, for mention and ordered that the defendant be remanded in Kirikiri prison, pending when he is able to perfect his bail conditions.
TMZ has obtained photos of a completely n*de Biebs strumming away on his big wooden instrument … at his grandmother’s home in Toronto during Thanksgiving back in November 2012.
And why, you ask, did Bieber go ass nak*d for g-ma?
Our sources tell us JB had been staying at his granny’s house during the holiday … and slept in a little too late on Thanksgiving morning.
Bieber finally woke up after hearing family and friends stirring around the house — so he thought he’d prank ‘em … by grabbing his guitar and playing a nak*d set a la Jenny from “Forrest Gump” (‘memba that?).
We’re told birthday-suited Bieber went right up to his grandma and started belting out some impromptu lyrics … like, “I Loooove you grandmaaaa … how are youuuu … helloooo grandma.”
We’re told G thought it was pretty funny — and everyone in the home was cracking up — but granny begged the pop star to get back in his room to put some damn clothes on, stat.
Thanksgiving — they go balls out. Uncensored

Joselyn Dumas Falls On Stage In Denrele Edun's High Shoes (Photos).
This happened last night during the launch of Channel O ONews Live in Ghana. *lol*
Ghanaian actress and television hostess Joselyn was ‘embarrassed’ after falling on stage last Sunday during the shooting and recording of Channel O’s O News Live in Ghana.
Channel O’s VJ Denrele Edun who co-hosted the event had invited Joselyn Dumas and her fellow actress Yvonne Okoro on stage for an interaction.
In a Truth or Dare segment, Joselyn offered to be dared.
Denrele then took off his gigantic shoes and dared her to wear, which she did. Joselyn walked and danced in the shoes for a while and then the unfortunate happened when she couldn’t move again and fell heavily on the stage.
“So how do you walk in this (referring to the shoes)” asked Joselyn after managing to get up with the help of the host, Denrele then replied “Fashion is pain.”

Nigeria Konduga Mosque Shooting: At Least 44 Dead In Attack By Suspected Islamic Militants
MAIDUGURI, Nigeria — Suspected Islamic militants wearing army fatigues gunned down 44 people praying at a mosque in northeast Nigeria, while another 12 civilians died in an apparently simultaneous attack, security agents said Monday.
Sunday's attacks were the latest in a slew of violence blamed on religious extremists in this West African oil producer, where the radical Boko Haram group, which wants to oust the government and impose Islamic law, poses the greatest security threat in years.
It was not immediately clear why the Islamic Boko Haram would have killed worshipping Muslims, but the group has in the past attacked mosques whose clerics have spoken out against religious extremism. Boko Haram also has attacked Christians outside churches and teachers and schoolchildren, as well as government and military targets.
Since 2010, the militants have been blamed for the killings of more than 1,700 people, according to a count by The Associated Press.
The news about Sunday's violence in Borno state, one of three in the northeast under a military state of emergency, came as journalists received a video featuring Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau, who gloats over recent attacks, threatens more, and even says his group is now strong enough to go after the United States.
The mosque slayings occurred Sunday morning in Konduga town, 35 kilometers (22 miles) outside Maiduguri, the capital of Nigeria's Borno state.
A state security service agent and Usman Musa, a member of a civilian militia that works with the military, said Monday they counted the bodies at the mosque after the attack. Musa said four members of his group – known as the Civilian Joint Task Force _also were killed when they reached Konduga and encountered "fierce resistance from heavily armed terrorists."
Musa and the security service agent said the attackers wore military camouflage uniforms used by the Nigerian army, which they may have acquired in one of their attacks on military bases.
On their way back from Konduga, the security forces came upon the scene of another attack at Ngom village, 5 kilometers (3 miles) outside Maiduguri, where Musa said he counted 12 bodies of civilians.
Twenty-six worshippers at the mosque were hospitalized with gunshot wounds, said a security guard at the emergency ward of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. He and the state security agent both spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not allowed to give information to reporters.
Nigeria declared a state of emergency in much of the northeast on May 14 to fight the onslaught after Boko Haram fighters took over several northeastern towns and villages in this nation of more than 160 million people, which is divided almost equally between the predominantly Muslim north and the mainly Christian south.
In the video received by journalists Monday, Shekau brushes off any gains asserted by the security forces.
"You soldiers have claimed that you are powerful, that we have been defeated, that we are mad people," Shekau says, speaking in the local Hausa language. "But how can a mad man successfully coordinate recent attacks in Gamboru, in Malam Fatori, slaughter people in Biu, kill in Gwoza and in Bama, where soldiers fled under our heavy fire power?
"We have killed countless soldiers and we are going to kill more."
He further insists the extremists' "strength and firepower has surpassed that of Nigeria. ... We can now comfortably confront the United States of America."
Shekau also said Nigeria's military is "lying to the world" about its casualties. "They lied that they have killed our members, but we are the ones that have killed the soldiers."
He apparently was referring to Aug. 4 attacks on a military base at Malam Fatori and a police outpost in Bama, both near the border with Cameroon. Joint Task Force spokesman Lt. Col. Sagir Musa told reporters 32 extremists, two soldiers and one police officer were killed. But when the Borno state governor called on the head of the task force to commiserate, Maj. Gen. Jah Ewansiah told him in front of reporters that they lost 12 soldiers and seven policemen. Nigeria's military regularly lowballs casualty figures of civilians and military.
Under orders from the military, cellphone and Internet service has been cut in Borno, making communications difficult. The military says the extremists were using cellphones to coordinate attacks. But some government officials argue that the lack of communication prevents civilians from informing them of suspicious movements and getting help when they are attacked.
62-r-old father rapes 5 daughters, mother says it's family tradition
A 62-year-old retired Rajasthan state government employee was arrested Wednesday after his five daughters, all married now, levelled several serious charges of sexual exploitation, molestation and rape against him.
In a joint 11-page complaint to the police, two of the five daughters have stated that their father Babu Lal Dhakar, former supervisor with the state agriculture department, molested them several times prior to their marriages.
The rapes took place as soon as the daughters entered Class eight, and continued till they lived in his house at Bayana village, some 150 km from the capital Jaipur.
Not just this, Dhakar used to first show badographic material to his daughters and then rape them.
He even took them to various places in India, booking them into cheap hotels and then molesting them, at the same time threatening to do the same to their younger siblings, if they resisted.
The daughters are believed to have tolerated these acts out of fear of infamy, but decided to teach their father a lesson once they realised that he was repeating the same with his granddaughters.
Mother Shakuntala Dhakar, a co-conspirator in the heinous crime, has also been arrested.
"The man has five daughters, all of whom are now married. The crime committed by him came to the fore when his daughters approached us on Tuesday and lodged a complaint alleging rape, molestation and various kinds of sexual exploitation.
One daughter alleged that she was sexually exploited between 1999 to 2003 while she was studying in college. When she got pregnant, her father forced her to abort the child.
The victim told her mother about the sexual exploitation, but she ignored her complaint saying that her elder sisters were also similarly molested by their father and it was a family tradition. The mother advised her not to mention it to others and simply forget it,"

SHOCKING: Cultists Kill Man After Missing His Brother They Came To Kill
The incident, which took place on August 6, 2013, at 10pm, is currently under investigation at Shagamu Road Division.
PUNCH Metro learnt that on the fateful day, about eight cultists stormed the deceased’s family home, held the occupants hostage, and vandalised the house.
It was also learnt that the cultists, who intended to kill the elder brother of the deceased, Emmanuel Agbo, did not meet him at home.
The cultists were said to have killed the victim in place of his brother.
Our correspondent gathered that the victim’s mother and two other siblings of the deceased were beaten up during the attack.
A relative, who craved anonymity for fear of reprisal, said the culprits ransacked the house, broke the television and seized the phones of the victims so that they would not be able to warn their brother not to come home.
The assailants were said to have waited for Emmanuel in the house, but when Michael came home, they descended on him instead.
The source said Michael was shot from behind, and then slashed with a cutlass.
She said, “The mother of the deceased and two female siblings were at home when the boys stormed it.
“The boys destroyed everything in the house, including the television. They vandalised the kitchen and beat up their mother mercilessly. They seized their phones also.
“When they were leaving the house, Michael, who was the fourth of seven children, returned into the house.
“Immediately he sighted them, he tried to flee, but he was shot from behind. They cut off his right hand and slashed his body with a cutlass.
“The eldest brother, Emmanuel, was not home at the time the incident occurred. He was the one they came for. It was likely he had something to do with those boys. Some of them are known faces around there.”
PUNCH Metro learnt that Michael was rushed to Real Hope Hospital, Ogijo, where he was confirmed dead.
A police source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said no suspect had been arrested.
When contacted on the telephone, the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Ngozi Braide, said she would call back.
Afrocandy Attacks Beverly Osu, Calls Her A “Dirty Ugly B*tch?
Beverly Osu's Mum Is So Proud Of Her, Best Friend Charirty Owoh Says
Charity Owoh is Beverly's best friend and confidant. Below is what she told Encomium magazine about how Beverly's mum is proud and supports everything she does in the reality series
"Bev and her mum are best friends. Her mum just called me now, she's our best friend. She's like the third person in our circle because whatever we do we tell her. If you watch the show you will see that there are three people she calls every time, Charity, Denrele, and mummy Suzy. Their relationship is very tight. Before Bev dates anybody, she tells her mom. (About Bev and Angelo's relationship/sex) She knows. She has seen everything. There's the good and bad, of course she's a mother so she would feel the way mother's would feel but she's very proud of her daughter and says she's a queen. She's already redecorating her room, so she would welcome her back like any mother would.Charity also talks about Beverly's relationship with 2shotz. Yep, she mentioned his name. See it after the cut..."Bev can handle controversy. It was evident during the time she was dating 'Mr I've never battered anyone before' and all the things they have said about her. While they were dating, her mother came back from America and the next thing was for him to start telling people that Beverly was doing drugs when she can't even take alcohol. (Why they broke up) She was in love with with him but I know he instilled fear in her. There are different stories but I don't want to talk about it. There are some stories that led to them breaking up, that if it comes out would look totally bad for him. There are some things that if I speak about will hurt 2shotz in ways that he can never imagine. So, all the things that he is saying right now...it got to a point where he broke her simcard because of phone calls. Who does that?

Top Nigerian Celebs Who Are Rich & Famous But Not Married
Money is not the problem, but the problem is who to marry...
As a celebrity, you are faced with challenges of finding the right one to hook you up because of the temptation one faces everyday. But for these celebrities, they are just one of those things in the industry and don’t care if one speaks ill about them or not because that’s what makes them.
Though, some like Omawumi who was reported to have molested a photo journalist recently, the truth is what prompted that? Because in a recent interview, the sonorous musician stated that people are nosing too much on her personal life and she detests it. So, who and what are they in relationship with?
Why are they not married even as they are getting older? Though some have children others are yet to ponder for one or so it seems. Here are six out of the numerous celebrities that have never said “I Do” and might take longer to do so.
D’banjSince the Kokomaster, D’banj, made a public confession that he’s still single and looking for a good woman to make his wife, Olufamous.com reliably gathered that actress Genevieve Nnaji has been making frantic efforts to get back into the arms of the super star.
According to an insider in D’banj’s camp, Genevieve and D’banj never really had a quarrel but that she was complaining too much because of the many ladies around him. D’banj, he said, got tired of her drama and simply ignored her. Now she wants to come back by all means...Genny just clocked 34 and it’s obvious she can’t just settle with any guy from the street corner; her man has to be someone with some level of ‘class’. It was gathered that she made contacts with D’banj at least three times in the last days of April but D’banj is still having some reservations.
One of his concerns, the source told Olufamous.com, is that Genny is too nosy and always wants to know everything going on. D’banj is the cool type who doesn’t like talking too much. So, will the Kokomaster still settle down with Genny or will he still continue to dance the “Koko” while waiting for the right woman?
Rita DominicThis member of the Royal Waturuocha family of Aborh Mbaise local government area of Imo State just marked her 38th birthday. She is the youngest of four siblings. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Theatre Arts (1999) and starred in over 100 Nollywood productions. She won the City People Awards in 2004 as the Most Outstanding Actress. And had been rumoured to have dated Jim Iyke and some few notable faces. She has achieved everything that a woman should achieve but has not been hooked-up by anyone yet. Maybe, she doesn’t want to be seen as one of those break-ups in the industry or she feels she could take care of herself. But as an African woman, the right thing to do is to get hooked-up by a man. But how soon?
Genevieve NnajiIn a recent picture, Genevieve Nnaji steps out with her 15 year old daughter, Chimebuka at a private event in a very rare scenario. Reports say Chimebuka lived with her parents for years, but ‘has a solid relationship’ with her mother. No one Knows who her father is, and she will not say, in spite of lingering speculations and interests. Nnaji is from Imo State, but grew up in Lagos, Nigeria. She is the fourth of eight children and was brought up in a middle class environment. While at the university, Genevieve began auditioning for acting jobs amongst the many Nollywood projects. She has been a single mother even when she was rumoured to be dating D’banj. But on the contrary, she is still waxing stronger and making ‘big cash’ on endorsement and movies. Would she ever get married as a single mother? Time will tell!
Waje
When the news broke that Waje was dating MI, she was not quick to rebuff it as she said in an interview with Entertainment Express “There is nothing to say about it really. We first met when I was in Enugu and he came for a show. When we met in Lagos, we hooked up and we have been doing stuffs together musically”. The word stuff might also mean something else aside the music business. “He is somebody who is very passionate about his music and I like him for that.
“I think it’s just what you media guys started. We are just friends, and maybe, you guys wanted a Nigerian version of Jay Z and Beyonce, so they just hooked us up by themselves.
“Even if we are dating, is it something I would tell the world?” She asked. So, if MI is dating a single mother like Waje and both profess love for each other, why not do the right thing and get married? Well, we hope to see the end.
Omawumi
Though her fans love her voice and are crazy about her, she’s a single mother and some could not hide their curiosity over the father of her baby.
In an interview with Thisday Entertainment contributor, SeunApara, she said that her child’s paternity is not hidden and would do everything to protect her family.
“I never hid my child’s paternity but I felt that since I’m not married, I don’t need to come out and say this is the father of my child. It is always ideal for someone who wants to marry you to be the one to identify himself. Another thing is that he might not want to identify himself because he is not an artiste. He might not want that part of my life. He might just love me and my child. So I like to respect people’s privacy.
“My family and my close friends know who the father of my child is because we’re in a relationship. We have a very healthy relationship and our families are intertwined. I don’t think I need to start telling people all this.
“I feel so bad about the stories people are writing about my child’s paternity because normally, controversies don’t get to me and my daughter doesn’t have to be part of this. So, when people start putting that kind of stuff in prints and my daughter stumbles on it when she is old enough to read, it will hurt her.
Jim IykeThis young energetic movie star, musician and business man sees nothing wrong with a Nigerian woman kissing and loving up other men in a movie. He is also a man full of controversy with numerous ladies lining up as if going for a pageant. There was a time it was rumoured that the actor is getting married to his Jamaican Fiancee, Keturah Hamilton, and until now, nothing had been heard.
He and Ghanaian actress, Nadia Buari are now rumoured to be dating and some fans have been asking why don’t they get married? Will he get married soon or continue his ‘bad boy’ role as he said “no vacancy.
Dbanj Urges Nigerian Artistes To Promote The Image Of Nigeria Via Their Music
Speaking, he described music as a veritable tool for the propagation of the country’s rich tourism, economic and entertainment potentialities.
The musician also said the wrong perception of the way of life of Nigerians must be corrected.
“There has been a lot of wrong perception about how we are and from the lifestyle.
“But I believe spending a whole full day in Nigeria, you will understand from the food to the culture to the weather a lot of people look for this kind of weather around the world.
“Then the music, the field that I am from, I think that right now music is very universal and a lot of people globally are even listening to African music.
“So I believe late Fela Anikolapo Kuti even said it that afro beat the original sound has a life.
“Music is very spiritual so I want everyone to come and see how great Nigeria is, let us not focus only on the oil yes we have plenty of oil it will not finishing in the next 100 years to 200 years.
“But people need to understand what we have; from textiles like `Adire’ to the entertainment industry, from Nollywood to other areas, we’ll get to see a lot.
D’banj also described the entertainment industry as an employer of labour, adding that it was capable of keeping the youth economically engaged and out of social vices.
He said there was also the need for the public and private sector to boost the Nigerian music industry
Why We Drink Our Victims’ Blood – Boko Haram Fugitive Confesses
However, all of that was, according to him, up until he made a turnaround in a most dramatic way. Nasir Isiaku is from Gusau in Zamfara State. He said while still in the group, he killed many Christians when he reigned as second-in-command to a terrorist group that wages war against non-Muslims in northern Nigeria. The group, Shitte, is a Boko Haram franchise. “Our own group is called Shitte but we have the same agenda with the Boko Haram sect. You people have only been hearing of Boko Haram, but there are other deadly Islamic groups who are also part of sect,” he said, adding: “Whenever we heard that any of the sects was fighting Christians, we always joined them,”
He was speaking to a gathering of Christians recently of his activities as a member of the terror group. He also told of how he renounced what he called “the cult” where he drank his victims’ blood so their ghosts would not appear to him in dreams.
This is Isiaku’s testimony as he told it himself. We have slightly edited it, so as to preserve its narrative purity. WOLE BALOGUN was there:
“I joined the Bafarawa Arabic Islamic Centre in 2010 and they were teaching us Arabic language. Every year, we take about 20 people to Iran for special training because our zonal headquarters is in Iran. Our own group is called Shitte but we have the same agenda with the Boko Haram sect. You people have only been hearing of Boko Haram, but there are other deadly Islamic groups that are also part of Boko Haram sect. I can count up to six of them that I’m very much aware of. Whenever we heard that any of the sects was fighting Christians, we always joined them. My own group has been an Islamic movement for a long time, even before I was born. It reigned in the north during the Abacha military regime and it has many branches in the north. We are in major northern states such as Kastina, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kano, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Zaria among others.
Sometimes, when we want to wreak havoc on Christians, we hire our own bus because we have our own weapons, which we use against the Christians. We usually join the Boko Haram sect whenever they wanted to fight the Christians or the soldiers because we usually hear that soldiers kill our Boko Haram brothers in Maiduguri, Yobe and Potiskum.
I used to be one of the most trusted hands in the group because I was a very obedient and loyal follower. I had my own secret office where I received delegates from our sponsors whenever our leader wasn’t around and where I attend to the needs of any of our members.
This is why I didn’t participate in many of our attacks against the Christians or the soldiers because I used to take care of the home front. Our leaders usually psyched us up, they brainwashed us to fight against Christians because they are enemies of Allah. They taught us that the more Christians we were able to kill, the more our chances of entering Alijonan(heaven).
Many of our trainings hold in the night, around 10pm. There is a bush around the school where we usually go for trainings.
Some aspects of the training we receive are not ordinary; we used to drink what one could call spiritual water because it is not ordinary water. We also used to receive strange visitors who were not equally ordinary humans. We receive the visitors in a strange way, our leaders used to summon them: they used to instruct us to recite some passages in the Quran and whenever we do that, the visitors would appear to us during those unholy hours. They could come in three or four. They appeared like humans but they are not humans. We know they are not humans. They usually fortify us with charms for the task before us. They used to instruct us to be strong and fight.
Our leaders also used to render a lot of assistance to support our cause. They bring a lot of money in a pick up van and asked us to use the money to buy guns. Many of our supplies come from the zonal headquarters and sometimes, there is a popular Bayelsa man who is, though a Christian, supporting our cause in cash and kind. I can’t remember his name now. The Bayelsa man gave us money and also supplied us with weapons for the mission.
I am the second in command in my camp in our group, and whenever our president travels to the headquarters in Iran, I used to coordinate the group and receive our sponsors on his behalf. This is why I am able to sit with the sponsors and know what happens.
We had vowed to first kill all Christians in Kaduna before dealing with others in the north. Whenever we take the spiritual water, we become more daring to do any evil. It makes us more dangerous and if we were annoyed at such moment, we could kill. The water also fortifies us against gunshots. When we have taken it, bullets will not harm us. Also, we get mystery ring from our leaders. About eight of us were selected for the ring, and that ring provides almost anything we asked from it. It is like a personal power for us.
I can’t recall the number of people I have killed. I don’t use gun most times. We usually use guns to shoot people on the leg. If we ask a victim: “Will you become a Muslim or not? And he or she refuses, we slaughter the victim like a goat. And after killing the victim, we collect his or her blood in a very small cup and then drink it. After drinking the blood, the victim’s ghost could not hunt us in dreams. That is what our leaders told us. And indeed, once we taste the blood of people we kill, we will not see them in our dreams.
Sometimes, when we don’t feel like drinking the blood from the cup, we used our fingers to touch the victim’s blood and taste it. It will still prevent ghost of victim from hunting us in dreams.
We used to kill Christians because we believe that by killing them, we will enter heaven at death. Our leaders used a Quranic passage that seems to support our action (Recites some Quranic lines). In interpretation, the passage says: “O you believers, you should not be friendly with your enemies.” ‘Believers’ here means we, the Muslims and ‘enemies’ are the Christians.
The leaders of our group and the sponsors are many. Our sponsors are wealthy Nigerians. They are in government, and many are past Nigerian leaders. If I mention their names, you would think I am just telling lies. We have governors, senators who sponsor us heavily. Our sponsors are many (Names mentioned are withheld). You wouldn’t believe some of them are really part of us. We usually invite them to the graduation of the students in the school. That is when many know them as part of us.
We have days we go to town to preach and win more members. On such days, we add a red cap to our white T-Shirt and trousers. On another occasion when we put on black caps, it means we won’t fight.
We have infiltrated the Nigerian forces. We have our members in the police and army. Those members help us a lot whenever we want to fight.
However, we are very secretive, my blood brother who was not a member didn’t know I was part of the sect. I kept my association with the sect secret from people close to me who don’t share our views about Christians. My father loved me very well.
Right from the time we attended Chachangi School, a lower school in my place, our Islamic instructors had been drumming it into our ears that we should tighten our belts to fight the Christians. They instructed us to always be armed, either with knife or gun. They even told us to have our own gun and get license for it.
My own area in Kaduna is Torumada, it is a haven for many Islamic terrorists in Nigeria. Before I joined the Shiite school, I took part in several fights in which we massacred many Christians. The Christians in Sokoto are most vulnerable to attacks from our people because they are just within our reach, but they have also been very lucky because a major Islamic cleric in the state is always pleading that we shouldn’t touch them.
We actually found out many places in Sokoto where Christians are living. One of them is Ota Road, but in order to respect our Islamic cleric, we haven’t touched them.
Boko Haram has their men trained in Afganistan. I don’t know if you have been hearing about the Taliban, those who sacrifice their lives through suicide bombing. The Talibans are the ones who are training Boko Haram men. I know Boko Haram usually have about 60 men who go for training in Afganistan. They train them on how to go on suicide bombing, make their own bombs and fight and do other dangerous things. They also provide them with sophisticated weapons such as bombs and all that.
Since I gave my life to Christ, I have been getting several attacks from the cult. There was a Thursday evening in Sokoto, I was supposed to go to vigil with a roommate named brother Matthew. He asked me to go with him but I declined, saying I was tired. When it was well into the night, I suddenly heard a loud, disturbing knock on the door. The voice that called out to me resembled that of brother Matthew. It said that I should open the door. The man actually spoke in Hausa, asking me to open up for him, but something pulled me back. My heart pounded and I suddenly realized it could be an impostor coming to attack me. But then, I couldn’t pray, all I could only mutter was Holy Ghost fire! I said this repeatedly till the stranger disappeared. And then I heard the barking of a dog from somewhere in the neighourhood.
Eventually, when the real Matthew came from church and asked for the door to be opened, I became hysterical with him. I demanded his explanations for the earlier visit but he said it wasn’t him. Initially I didn’t believe him. It took the explanation of another brother who confirmed that he was actually in the church all through the night for me to let things be. I could have killed him.
Before the attack, I had been keeping indoors. I couldn’t go out just anyhow because I knew members of the group would be looking for me.
So, after that incident, my pastor decided to take me to his village, away from the area where everyone knew me.
It is only God that can stop the war Boko Haram and other Islamic religious sects have started against the Christians in Nigeria. I thank God that I am out and now a Christian. The frank advice I can offer to all Christians is that they should start securing their own weapons, tighten their belts and prepare for war. The terrorist sects are prepared for war already. I am just looking at all Christians in Nigeria as dead people because of the level of preparations the sects have made.
It was on March 6, that I had a strange encounter that turned me into a completely different person. We usually go for our preaching on Fridays and Saturdays. I had just returned from one of such outings in Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto State, it was around 3pm. I was about to start taking ablution for the evening prayers when it happened. A man in pure, resplendent white attire just appeared to me. And once I saw him I was scared and dropped the small keg of water and ran off to my office. My people were asking me and I told them that I saw a man in white but they said they didn’t see anybody and even when I went back to the spot where I had seen the man, he was no longer there.
Then that night when I slept, the strange man in white came to me again. He was holding a stick and then I was frightened and I shouted and woke up with a start. My people rushed to me and said I was having a nightmare. Our leader said that the man in white must be an evil one. They took me to a powerful Mallam in Gombe who did some prayers for me to ward off the evil man in white. After the prayers, the Mallam assured me that nothing would happen to me and I returned to our base. But then when I slept again the following night, the same man in white appeared to me again and this time, he spoke to me. He said: “God has chosen you”. He said that three times and I again woke up with a start and that again alarmed my people. But when they asked what happened to me, I lied to them that there was nothing.
When it was morning, I took my bathe and deliberately went to see a barber friend who is a Christian. After he had finished cutting my hair, I opened up to him. I told him about my encounter with the strange old man in white and he said that the man must be God reaching out to me. I asked him why God would want to reach out to me. He then asked me if I was ready to give my life to Christ and serve God and immediately I said yes. I was even surprised at the way I simply took it.
Since I started fellowshipping with the church, I have become a different being. The experience was like I had a thorough bathe, which washed off all impurities like diseases and all that. Before the experience, I used to walk around like one afflicted with insanity, but now, I am more relaxed and composed. I now take time to take care of myself and even have inner peace. I used to live on drugs but now, I don’t take drugs any longer. I feel healthy.
It is not easy to quite the brotherhood because we undergo terrible and diabolic initiation process that hardened us. It is only by God’s touch that anyone one could renounce the group. When I was still there a certain high profile member of the Boko Haram sect, named Shuaib, renounced the group. I was part of many others who personally swore that we would ensure that we skin Shuaib alive if we see him anywhere.
But I want to tell my colleagues who are still in it to have a change of heart. I now realize that killing Christians would not take me to heaven; instead, it will take me to hell. And I’m ready to live a good life as a Christian.
Work Permit Stops Mba Stoke Move
EPL side Stoke City will not consider a move for Sunday Mba as he did not play enough games for Nigeria to be granted a work permit.
Netherlands-based agent Richard Umejei told MTN Football that a proposed move to the EPL for Mba fell through because in the last two years, the player has only played 10 of the 20 internationals involving Nigeria.
Umejei disclosed: “It’s a pity Mba can no longer go to Stoke City because of work permit issues. He played 10 matches out of 20 matches, which is far below the 75% required for him to be granted a work permit. Had he played another five matches, he would have been good to go.
“Both the Stoke chief scout, Kevin Cruickshank, and director of football, Mark Cartwright, were keen to invite him before they researched that his international appearances fall short of minimum required for a work permit.
Kevin Cruickshank told Umejei, “I’ve been looking into his playing record for Nigeria and I’m not sure he qualifies for a work permit. He has only played 10 of the last 20 competitive games (50%) for his country in the last 2 years.”
Among the games he missed were 2013 AFCON group matches against Zambia and Burkina Faso as well as qualifiers against Liberia both home and away as well as the home game versus Rwanda in Calabar
