Growing up was a bit funny for me outside the walls of my home. I grew up in a wonderfully balanced family with a lot of love and care from both my parents who were bankers, my older sisters who taught me so much and even my late kid brother even though his time was short. For some reason I thought there was something wrong with me and I will tell you why.

Forbes Africa Denies Releasing Nigeria’s Top 20 Richest Men List

There was a top 20 Richest Men in Nigeria list that made the rounds online last week purportedly released by Forbes. I’m sure some of you saw it. I didn’t put it up because I searched Forbes’ website and didn’t find it there. I eventually found the originator of the list – a blog called Strategic Business Team. Anyway, Forbes Africa wanted to clear the air and have released a statement.

The 20 finalists, who were all required to wear headscarves, put on a glittering show for the final of Muslimah World, strolling up and down a catwalk in elaborately embroidered dresses and stilettos.
But the contestants from six countries were covered from head to foot, and as well as beauty they were judged on how well they recited Koranic verses and their views on Islam in the modern world.

After a show in front of an audience of mainly religious scholars and devout Muslims, a panel of judges picked Obabiyi Aishah Ajibola from Nigeria as the winner.

16 Soldiers Killed, Many Missing In Fresh Borno Attack

Army authorities disclosed, yesterday, that 15 soldiers and a lieutenant have been killed by Boko Haram terrorists along the Baga-Maiduguri Road in Borno State, while 150 sect members were killed by troops of the 7th Division during a fierce battle with the insurgents last weekend.

Defence sources, however, contradicted the casualty figure, saying at least 40 soldiers were killed and 
65 others missing in a deadly ambush by the suspected members of Boko Haram.

52-year-Old Woman Arrested For Stealing Turkey

The Police in Lagos State have arrested a 52-year-old woman, Rebecca Aina, for allegedly stealing and killing a live turkey, belonging to the traditional leader of Ilaje community in the state, Chief kayode Aiyetiwa, while a manhunt has begun to arrest her husb
and and two others, who are on the run.

The woman had been arraigned before an Ogudu Magistrate Court, presided over by Mrs O. Awope, the Chief Magistrate of the court, who granted her a bail of N50, 000, with a reliable surety, who is gainfully employed. The magistrate also ordered that she should be remanded at Kirikiri Prison, pending her meeting of the bail condition.

Nollywood star, Kate Henshaw, presented a book titled, The World of an Actress: My Story, amidst fanfare and encomiums,in celebration of her 20 years as an actress on Tuesday at the Muson Centre, Lagos.
The memoir, which also doubles as a photo book, chronicles the actress’ humble beginning as a starlet, career highpoints, as well as the journey to fame.

With colleagues like Rita Dominic, Dakore Egbuson, Chidi Mokeme, Chioma Chukwuka,Ibinabo Fiberesima, Segun Arinze, Funke Akindele and Monalisa Chinda in attendance, it was an outpour of praise for Henshaw, as each one took time to praise one of their own.

A Raeford, N.C., woman is accused of having sex with dogs while her Fort Bragg soldier husband filmed them. The couple posted the videos on the Internet, police say.

"Anything you can ever imagine a man and a woman doing to each other, she was having the dogs do," Raeford Police Chief Franklin Crumpler told The Huffington Post on Tuesday.

Ruben Chance James Fox and his wife, Amber Nicole Fox, both 23, were to make their first courtroom appearance in Hoke County on Tuesday after their Monday arrest, Crumpler said. They faced charges of bestiality, conspiracy and disseminating obscene materials, with Amber Fox facing an additional charge of soliciting a crime against nature.

Nollywood actress Monalisa Chinda On Sunday 15th September, lit up the hearts of female prisoners at the Kirikiri Prison, Apapa, Lagos with an exhilarating charity visit which lasted several hours. Aside donating various items including food stuffs, cloths, under wears, toiletries, perfumes, provisions and the likes through her Arise Monalisa Foundation, the multiple award-winning actress took her time to interact and encourage the prison inmates who were overjoyed to receive her.

Drunken Soldier Kills 3, Shatters Own Legs in Ogoja, Cross River, Nigeria

A Soldier, Corporal Agbo attached to the Brigadier Ally Military Brigade, Ogoja Cross River State on Sunday 15th of September 2013 killed three persons and shattered his own legs when he drove his Honda Accord car recklessly after drinking to stupor.

Sources said Corporal Agbo took his girl friend, Christiana Michael Imo to Okuku, the town close to the Brigade to attend the Yala New Yam festival celebration and allegedly got drunk after gulping several bottles of beer and palm wine and after the celebration he decided to return to the barracks located a kilometer away against the advice of his host, Nick Owonye.

“He was highly drunk and we advised him to allow someone drive the car to the barracks for him but he refused; it was while he was going back on top speed that he hit an Okada and the car ran into a tree killing the two boys on the Okada and his girl friend”. Owonye said Corporal Agbo, who is said to be from Enugu State became friends with Christiana, a mother of two whose husband, Lance Corporal Abraham Imo died in Maiduguri in 2010 while combating the Boko Haram insurgents.

SHOCKING: Wife Stabs Husband To Death, Carts Away With His Property

A 35-year-old car dealer, Mr. Kelvin Okhire, was allegedly stabbed to death, yesterday, by his wife, Mrs. Adesuwa and his corpse was deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, mortuary, Ikeja, at about 3:00p.m.

It was gathered that few minutes after depositing the corpse, Adesuwa alerted the sister to the deceased, Ms. Lyn Okhire, who had been searching for the deceased

Eye-witness at the hospital said that when Lyn demanded to know the cause of her brother’s death, she was beaten up by Adesuwa and her cohort, one Festus.

Lagos is now going to be a megacity. Under the able leadership of Governor Babatunde Fashola, the apostle of good governance, Lagos is undergoing a major makeover.

The Atlantic Ocean will be banished, to be replaced by Eko Atlantic; a shimmering new 3.5- mile island built literally on the water behind a “great wall of Lagos.” Greenery has suddenly appeared in Lagos, displacing the concrete jungle. There are now parks with manicured lawns. There are now tree-lined roads. Pot-holes are now being tarred. Sidewalks are now provided for pedestrians.

Who is entitled to enjoy the new amenities that Governor Fashola and his team of dedicated public-servants are bringing to Lagos? Accordingly, a battle royal has emerged for the rightful ownership of Lagos. Some are insisting Lagos is no man’s land.

TRAGEDY: Newly Wed Couple Perish Few Days After Wedding

A newly married couple, Francis Edeh and Ann, along with two others died in a car crash, weekend on the Ugep-Abakaliki Road.

Francis and Ann, from Ebonyi State and resident in Calabar, Cross River State, were heading to Abakaliki to thank family members, who attended their wedding the previous Saturday, September 7, in Calabar.

When they got to Amudo village, some 30 kilometres to Abakiliki, their vehicle developed an electrical fault prompting them to seek the services of an auto electrician.
