TRAGIC: Seven People Brutally Beheaded On Maiduguri/Damaturu Road

In a shocking incident, seven people have been reportedly killed Makintamari village in Kaga Local Government in Borno state along the Damaturu/Maiduguri road.
According to eyewitnesses account, the travellers were beheaded with their heads placed on their lifeless bodies on the main road.
In a related incident, gunmen also brutally attacked and slit the throats of 4 people on Saturday in the same village. The victims were reportedly returning to Maiduguri in the evening.

Nigerian Woman Killed By Son In London: Tolu Kalejaiye Stabbed To Death At Her House

On Thursday the 26th of September, 2013, the family of Mrs Tolu Kalejaiye, a London-basedaccountant and mother were shocked when they learnt of her untimely death.

The 46-year-old hardworking mother was found stabbed to death at her house in Wickford, Essexaround 10 am on Thursday morning. As we speak, her 21-year-old son, Oladotun Emmanuel Kalejaiye has been charged for her murder.

Dotun was arrested by British Police minutes after the shocking discovery of his mother’s battered body in her bedroom.

About 13,000 soldiers from seven countries (Thailand, United States, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea and Malaysia) participated in Cobra Gold 2013, a joint, multi-national military training exercise which focuses on maintaining and improving military-to-military relationships among nations.

And the training has been hosted annually by Thailand since 1982.

During this year’s training, Thai soldiers got to show the U.S. Marines how to catch a cobra with their bare hands, as well as drink the snake blood to survive.

Cement Truck Accident Killed College Student At Eleyele In Ibadan

A cement truck driver lost control of his lorry on Friday afternoon at Eleyele area of Ibadan, Oyo State, killing a student on the spot.

The lorry, which was loaded with cement, also collided with a commercial bus, injuring four others. The deceased student, who was identified as Rashidat Akinola, attended the Federal Cooperative College, Ibadan.

Eyewitnesses said the lorry, with number plate XA178BDG, was coming from the Dugbe end of the road and going towards Ologuneru area when it crushed the young woman. The other four victims that sustained various degrees of injuries were occupants of an 18-seater bus, which was also involved in the accident.

PDP Crisis: Obasanjo, Atiku Should Be In Jail By Now For Their Roles, Asari-Dokubo Tells Jonathan

 

Leader of the defunct Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, NDPVF, Mujaheed Asari-Dokubo, has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his former deputy, Atiku Abubakar, for their alleged roles in the ongoing crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He also asked President Goodluck Jonathan to clamp down on members of the Abubakar Kawu Baraje led “New PDP”, particularly associates of the seven aggrieved governors, as a warning that their illegal activities will not be condoned.

ASUU Strike: NUT Gives Two-Week Ultimatum To FG, Lecturers

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) gave a two-week ultimatum to the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to resolve the strike, embarked upon by university lecturers.

Mr. Michael Olukoya, the NUT President stated this in Abuja at the end of the Union’s meeting with
teachers’ representatives across the country on September 26, 2013, Thursday.

Mr. Olukoya said that members of the Union would not hesitate to close down the nation’s schools, if the two parties failed to reach agreement after two weeks.

He described the current ASUU strike “as nationalistic, patriotic and self-sacrificing”.

“We will not hesitate to shut down the education system in the country, if the government fails to fulfil or honour the agreement it entered into with the lecturers.”
