FG Stops University Lecturers’ Salary

The Federal Government has invoked the ‘no work, no pay’ labour rule against striking university lecturers as their industrial action enters the 93rd day with no end in sight.

Some of the federal university vice chancellors have not paid the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) members their August and September salaries in compliance with the government’s directive.

Man kills his pregnant girlfriend because he didn’t want to pay child support

A man was arrested, charged and convicted of murder related charges after he killed his pregnant girlfriend because he didn’t want to pay child support and his girlfriend refused to get an abortion, according to police reports in Oklahoma.

LeFlore County Police said a man accused of killing pregnant Kaloni Flynn had told another person that if the 20-year-old woman did not end the pregnancy, he would get rid of it for her.

Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) workers protested yesterday the non-payment of their entitlements, to stall the take-over of the company by new owners.

In Abuja, they barricaded the entrance to the headquarters at Maitama District.

As the Federal Government prepares to mark the 53rd anniversary of Nigeria’s independence from colonial rule, some students are mobilizing to protest the insensitivity of the government to the plight of lecturers at various universities in the country.


It was learned from sources at the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) that students at various zones of the association would demonstrate against continued closure of universities throughout the country.
