Update, Photos And Video: Plane Carrying Body Of Late Gov. Agagu Crashes In Lagos Obasanjo and Agagu's Sons Survive, Owner Of MIC Caskets Dead, Agagu's Wife Was Not On Board, 16 Dead, 4 Survived!


An EMBRA plane 120 belonging to Associated Airlines crashed on Thursday morning in Lagos, few minutes after take off. According to official sources, 16 of the 20 persons on board have been confirmed dead.

One person is said to be unaccounted for. Among the four who survived are the only son of the late Olusegun Agagu and former president Olusegun Obasanjo's first son, Gbenga. Medical personnel are said to battling to stabilize the few survivors.

Agagu's wife is said to have survived the crash as she has gone to Akure ahead of her family. The boss of the popular casket company in Lagos, MIC Caskets, Mr Okusanya is among the 16 that were confirmed dead by official sources, including close family sources.
Confusion is in the air in Akure, Ondo State, as many are yet to come to terms with the tragic incident.

A chartered Associated Airline plane carrying the corpse of the former Ondo State governor, Olusegun Agagu and 20 people on board with 7 crew members headed for Akure crashed close to the cargo shed of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos minutes after take-off.

The plane's engine failed. ChannelsTv reports that spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in the south west, Ibrahim Farinloye who confirmed the incident said 8 bodies have been recovered from the site of the crash.

Yakubu Dati of FAAN confirms that there are 5 survivors so far who are injured and have been taken to the hospital. The late former governor's Son who was a passenger on the plane is one of the survivors. The late governor was to be laid to rest tomorrow.
